Patio Cover Installation

What does patio cover installation include?

EcoStar Remodeling & Construction handles patio cover installation for homeowners in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and our other California offices, as a licensed general contractor (CSLB 1034806) that takes care of design, permits and construction. A patio cover is one of the best ways to extend your living space and enjoy the outdoors year-round.

A typical project covers the layout and design, the footings and posts, the beams and the roof or lattice, the connection to your house or a freestanding frame, a gutter or drip edge so rain runs away from the house, and wiring for lights or a fan when you want them.

It starts with a free estimate at your home, where we measure the patio, check how the house can carry an attached cover and talk through the style you want. Request a free patio cover estimate.

Why hire a licensed patio cover contractor?

A patio cover carries its own weight and the wind, and an attached cover also loads the wall or roof it ties into, so the posts, footings and connections have to be sized for your site. Patio covers in Los Angeles and Bay Area cities often need a permit and must meet zoning setbacks and the building code.

We design the cover around your house, the sun over the patio and how you plan to use it, check your city’s rules at the estimate and file the permit when one is needed. Our work is backed by a 2-year workmanship warranty.

Which patio cover type and material fit your home?

  • One popular option is solid patio covers, which provide full shade and protection from the elements. Lattice covers have an open roof that filters the sun while still shading the patio. Pergolas are as much a design feature as a shade structure and can take louvers, a retractable canopy or climbing plants.

Aluminum is light, low-maintenance and does not rot. Wood gives a warm, classic look and needs regular sealing or painting. Composite sits between the two in look and upkeep. We show you the options side by side at the estimate.

How does a patio cover project run?

  • 1. Estimate. We measure the patio, look at the wall or roof the cover will attach to and talk through how you use the space. 2. Design. You choose the type, the material, the finish and options like lights or a fan, and we draw the plan. 3. Permits. We prepare the drawings and file the permit when your city requires one. 4. Build. Footings, posts, beams and the roof go in, with drainage away from the house. 5. Walkthrough. We walk the finished cover with you and close out the inspection.

One of the biggest benefits is expanded living space. A covered patio works as an outdoor room for dining or relaxing, shades the windows behind it and protects outdoor furniture from the sun. To spread the cost, see our financing options.

We can’t give you a specific number without seeing your patio. The price depends on the size of the cover, the type and material, whether it attaches to the house or stands on its own posts, the footings, and options like lights, a fan or gutters. We price each line in a free estimate.

Often it can, either to the wall below the eave or to the roof, as long as the house framing can carry the load. Where it cannot, a freestanding cover on its own posts is the alternative. We check this at the estimate.
